OK SM01 Western SAFE 38b

The Western Oklahoma SAFE 38b Native Wildlife Mix is designed specifically for shortgrass and mixed-grass prairie regions receiving approximately 18–24 inches of annual precipitation. Built for drought resilience and long-term stand persistence, this diverse native blend supports upland wildlife, pollinators, and functional prairie restoration in western Oklahoma’s more arid environments.

Grass Component

Includes drought-tolerant native prairie grasses such as:

  • Little Bluestem
  • Sideoats Grama
  • Blue Grama
  • Buffalograss
  • Indiangrass (Cheyenne)
  • Switchgrass (Blackwell)

These species provide durable structure, winter cover, and competitive ability on upland and transitional soils while remaining adapted to lower rainfall conditions common across western Oklahoma.

Forb & Legume Component

A carefully selected suite of native wildflowers and legumes supports pollinators and upland wildlife, including:

  • Partridge Pea
  • Prairie Clover (Purple & White)
  • Butterfly Milkweed
  • Indian Blanket
  • Blue Flax
  • Annual Sunflower

Together, these species enhance nectar availability, host plant diversity, and seasonal seed production while maintaining compatibility with grass establishment under drier conditions.
