OK SM01 Central SAFE 38b

The Central Oklahoma SAFE 38b Native Wildlife Mix is designed for mixed-grass prairie regions receiving approximately 24–32 inches of annual precipitation. This diverse native blend balances durable warm-season grass structure with flowering species that support upland wildlife, pollinators, and overall prairie function.

Grass Component

This blend includes regionally adapted warm-season prairie grasses such as:

  • Big Bluestem
  • Little Bluestem
  • Indiangrass
  • Switchgrass (Blackwell)
  • Sideoats Grama
  • Blue Grama
  • Buffalograss

Together, these species provide vertical nesting structure, winter cover, and strong drought resilience without overwhelming the forb component.

Forb & Legume Component

A diverse selection of native wildflowers and legumes supports brood habitat and pollinator value, including:

  • Partridge Pea
  • Prairie Clover (Purple & White)
  • Leadplant
  • Butterfly Milkweed
  • Indian Blanket

  • Annual Sunflower

These species provide nectar resources, insect production for upland chicks, and seasonal seed production for wildlife.
