IL MCM Short Grass Only Quail or Pheasant SAFE Interseeding Mix includes 6 native shortgrass species at 5.01 seeds per square foot and is designed to meet the 327/420 USDA Conservation Cover Grass Only Inter-seeding practice on <5% slopes. This mix could also be used for past CP42 acres that are being converted to a regular CRP practice requiring a total of 10 grass seeds per square foot. For HEL slopes (>5%), this mix could be doubled in order to meet the 10 seeds per square foot HEL interseeding standard. Updated 1/11/2026
