This mix includes only flowers — making it ideal for sites where grasses are already present, for interseeding into thinning CRP stands, or where a pollinator-first emphasis is the project goal.
- 100% forb composition — maximum floral resource and brood-insect production
- Montana-appropriate genetics & drought-tolerant natives
- Built for pheasant & sharp-tailed grouse brood habitat — small insects flourish in low-structure flower fields
- Excellent for monarch support — includes Showy Milkweed
- Pairs perfectly with an existing grass stand or CRP cover
Recommended Uses
- Pollinator habitat restoration (NRCS 327-style projects)
- CP-42 enhancements
- Monarch / bee conservation plantings
- In-field prairie strips, shelterbelts, field edges, or idle acres
- Rejuvenating old stands by drilling flowers into established grass cover
Seeding & Establishment Notes
- Seeding Method: No-till drill preferred; broadcast + pack acceptable
- Depth: ⅛" – ¼" (DO NOT bury deep — small-seeded forbs must stay near surface)
Timing:
- Best: Late fall dormant seeding (freeze-thaw improves germination)
- Spring: possible, but requires aggressive weed control
Weed Prep: One full season of cheatgrass / kochia control drastically increases success
