Early-season bloomers like baby blue eyes, bluedicks, and desert marigold jump-start pollinator activity, followed by iconic California species such as California poppy, elegant clarkia, buckwheat, monkeyflower, and lacy phacelia for extended mid-season nectar and pollen. Structural native grasses including blue grama, basin wildrye, and Sandberg bluegrass provide soil stability, light nesting cover, and long-term persistence without overwhelming the forbs.
This mix is well-suited for pollinator habitat plantings, conservation buffers, upland restoration, and wildlife-friendly landscapes, and can support NRCS Pollinator Habitat (327) objectives when applied with appropriate site preparation and management.
